Garage Door Torsion Tube, Garage Door Shaft, Garage Door Spring Shaft, Garage Door Torsion Shaft, Garage Door Torsion Spring Shaft.
The Garage Door Torsion Tube, made from 11 gauge, 14 gauge, and 16 gauge galvanized steel, plays an essential role in the lift system of a garage door. The long tube is held in place by three bearing plates that are fastened to the wall. The bearings allow the tube to spin freely as torque is applied by the garage door spring(s). At the ends of the tube you will find cable drums that reel in the cables and thereby lifting the garage door.
Torsion tubes come in varying lengths depending on the actual width of your garage door. The length you will need is approximately the width of your garage door plus an extra 9-11 inches.
